Year 11
Revision skills evening

We are unfortunately not able to host our Year 11 Revision Skills Evening this term in the traditional format due to government guidance. However, we have put together a series of videos that will help support and prepare students for their mock exams in a few weeks’ time (23rd November – 4th December) and subsequent exams/mock exams in the Spring and Summer terms (all being well!).

There are also some generic videos that are aimed at supporting students through the exam period including; how to deal with exam anxiety, how to create a revision timetable, positive ways to approach exams and staying balanced in the exam season.

The subject videos cover:

  • What content the students have been studying this term
  • What exam papers they will be sitting in the mocks
  • What topics that need revised
  • Resources available to students
  • What and how parents can support

We very much hope that the summer exam season will go ahead next year, however, the possibility of the government cancelling exams and replacing them with teacher assessment in some form is a very real one. If this does happen, then a student’s performance in their mock exams is very significant as it forms a critical piece of evidence as to how they would perform overall. We are therefore encouraging all year 11 to take their mock exams very seriously and to revise for them as if they were their real exams, so that they are able to achieve their best. We have purposefully timetabled lesson six to ensure that students have learnt all the content they need, and revisited learning that took place during lockdown, so that they feel confident and able to give their best.

We have listened to our Student Executive and will be pausing lesson six and Knowledge Organiser homework during the two mock exam weeks so that students can concentrate on revising. We would therefore very much appreciate it if you could encourage your son/daughter to use this time wisely during these next two weeks and in the mock exam weeks themselves to revise and prepare for their exams so that they do their best.

If students require a quiet place to revise in school then the library is available for them to use after school each day until 4.15pm.
